Why can a root canal fail?+
Possible reasons include complex or missed anatomy, leakage, a new cavity, fracture or persistent infection. Diagnosis is needed to identify the likely cause.
Can every root-treated tooth be retreated?+
No. Severe fracture, inadequate remaining tooth structure, poor support or inaccessible anatomy may make another option more appropriate.
Is extraction sometimes better?+
It may be when the tooth cannot be predictably restored. The benefits, limitations and replacement implications should be discussed before deciding.
